How do cool peels work?
Industry renowned Plastic Surgeon and Environ Founder and Scientific Director, Dr Des Fernandes is the world pioneer in non-invasive skin rejuvenation and the creator of Cool Peel®.
Instead of the aggressive acid peels, which strip away vital layers of the fragile epidermis, Environ uses lower lactic acid concentration and pH, resulting in an effective peeling treatment that is very gentle on the skin and preserves as much of the epidermis as possible. In addition, cool Peel® stimulates the fibroblasts in the dermis to increase the quantity of collagen, which helps to improve the appearance of ageing and sun-damaged skin.

How many treatments are best?Good things take time and each client will present with a unique skin constitution, thus the number of micro-needling treatments needed will vary from person to person. We recommend repeating your Dermapen treatments every 4-6 weeks until you achieve your desired results. For scar reduction, an average of three to six treatments is normally recommended with lasting results commonly seen in six treatments. Is Skin Needling painful?Dermapen treatments can cause some discomfort for those with sensitive skin or low pain thresholds. However, the vibrating effect of the device works to interrupt pain receptors in the skin, making the procedure more manageable and, in most cases, undetectable. In addition, the device isn't rolled or dragged across the skin like a traditional skin roller; instead, the microscopic punctures are direct, clean and precise, causing no tearing to the epidermal layers. In some instances, a numbing cream may be applied before treatments; however, this will need to be approved by a GP and or Pharmacist and administered by the client.

Are there any side effects?Most people can return to their daily routine immediately after treatment, however, possible side effects including slight swelling, temporary discomfort, minor redness, possible, bruising, dryness and light flaking. The signs of a strong and successful treatment may include the presence of petechiae (tiny red dots) that are completely harmless and will disappear in a few days.

What to expect after treatmentsThis is only a guide, as each individual will react differently depending on the skin's response to the treatment and the intensity of the treatment. Redness and swelling should subside within 24 hours, with the average healing process being two to five days. Day 1: Redness and tightness. Slight swelling; this is normal Day 2: Slight redness and possible dryness in some cases; this is normal Day 3: Skin colour starts to go back to normal, but the skin may still feel dry; this is normal Day 4: Skin may flake but feels comfortable; flaking is normal Day 5-7: Skin may continue to flake but returns to normal by day 7

Post treatment care instructionsAvoid excessive exercising and sweating immediately before and after your treatment Avoid saunas, hot baths, or spas Avoid solariums and spray tans Avoid direct sun exposure for 2 weeks after treatment and use an SPF 50+ daily Avoid swimming in chlorinated pools for 1 week post treatment Avoid IPL, microdermabrasion, lasers, and chemical peels for two to four weeks after treatment
